This is a piece I was working on last winter.
It’s a response to the world in which we live. To the climate crisis our children have inherited.
The series was inspired by the work of Joanna Macy and speaks to the Great Unravelling, a story told by scientists, journalists, and activists that draws attention to the collapse of biological, ecological, economic, and social systems.
As communities seem to be losing their social cohesion, their ability to confront problems collectively diminishes, leaving people isolated, overwhelmed and scared. I believe that we need each other now more than ever. The climate crisis is too big of a burden for one person to carry. When we connect with others who share our concerns, we have an opportunity to respond together and cultivate the inner resources necessary so we can show up for this important work at this critical time in our history.
I choose to give my energy, creativity and heart to effective action because I believe a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient world is possible. I have been involved in the environmental movement for over twenty five years and my art is part of my journey and speaks to how I have been able to stay engaged and feel empowered in the face of so much planetary suffering.
