It All Started At A Campground In BC

I see trees in roots

Mountains on branches

A sunrise on birch bark

Art in nature

Six years ago, while camping in British Columbia, we came across a logging site that had pieces of birch bark lying on the ground. I gathered a few, even though I had no idea what I was going to do with them. A few days later, while I was sitting in the campground, I picked up a piece of bark and some watercolours and started painting. I loved it! I spent the next year making mini birch bark paintings and mounting them on pallet wood. Then I started painting larger pieces. That evolved into painted birch bark earrings, which are now my top seller. All the bark that I use is salvaged from the forest floor, gathered from old logging sites or from neighbours pruning their trees.
